Drupal Site Audit

Just as no two Drupal sites are the same no two project quotes are the same. Which is why the Drupal Site Audit is an imperative first step for all Thinkbeans' project journeys.

What is a Drupal Site Audit?

A Drupal Site Audit is an in-depth analysis of your site to uncover performance issues, identify security vulnerabilities as well as to gain a comprehensive understanding of your website in order to prepare for site changes and upgrades.

Thinkbean's audit process is highly customized and tailored to best meet each individual business' needs and includes a comprehensive examination of:

  • Performance
  • Security
  • Custom Modules
  • Theme, Front-end (inc. Accessibility)
  • Drupal Configuration Settings
  • Code quality, and adherence to Drupal Coding Standards
  • Server Configuration
  • Architecture analysis
  • Users / Permissions
  • Technical on-site SEO

Who Completes the Audit?

To execute an effective an audit we rely on a specific set of senior team members including a:

  • Senior Drupal Engineer: Drupal configuration, architecture, code quality and custom module review.
  • Senior Front-end Drupal Engineer: Review of theming layer, including Accessibility review
  • Senior Drupal System Administrator: Feedback on performance, server configuration and security.

While the team members may work on very different aspects during the audit, they regularly meet, and communicate during the process to ensure all bases are covered and no stone (ie; piece of code) is left unturned.

Once all of the information has been gathered our engineers and administrator work with Thinkbean's Director of Engineering to prepare the site audit before returning it to the Director of Operations to present to the client.

Thinkbean Audit Process

1. Thinkbean starts by requesting an archive of your site which is typically provided in the form of a zip file.

2. Thinkbean then sets the site up on a private, secure development (internal) server.

3. Thinkbean's engineers begin with their review, which almost always start with the high-level technical aspects (unless there is an identified issue or goal we are aware of), so that we can understood where to focus our efforts that then provide the most value to our clients.

4. The team will map out a plan of attack and agree on the top priorities and objectives for the audit with the client.

5. Thinkbean engineers dive in head first in order to begin documenting and and highlighting any problem areas and then begin to document findings, recommendations, solutions and/or mitigations for any issues that arise.

6. Once this is complete the Director of Engineering will review the audit documentation before passing it on to Director of Operations who will present the findings to the client.

The Audit Report

When it's all said and done you will not only have Thinkbean experts who have become experts on your site, but also a detailed report, with a prioritized list of recommendations that address all areas of your site.

The audit includes SEO findings, any outstanding (or large scale issues), suggestions for UX/Design enhancements and estimates of how long any of our recommendations would in order for our Drupal Engineers to execute them.

You will receive a full presentation of this report where we can address any questions you may have, as well as a documented report for you and your team.
